CORPUS CREATIVE WORKSHOPS & TOURS FOR SCHOOLS  K-12
January 29 - March 29

Picture
Kick off the New Year with an exhibition that looks at the human body through genetics, science, sculpture, movement, media and more.  In CORPUS, seven international artists explore what the body means and how it is reflected in a world increasingly transformed by new technologies. Students are invited to interact with innovative media and to critically assess what the 21st Century body is, does, and can do.

EXHIBITION TOURS FOR SCHOOLS : FREE (45 minutes) An expert Curator or Curatorial Programmer will guide students through the exhibition, encouraging them to ask questions and discuss the strange beauty of neural networks, the fragility of a beating glass heart, and the poignancy of a last breath.
Teachers booking in advance will receive:  a description of the exhibition, vocabulary & Big-Ideas.

CREATIVE WORKSHOPS FOR SCHOOLS : $150 (1.5 - 2.5 HOURS) Starting with a tour, this workshop uses what the student has just seen in CORPUS as a jumping off point.  It will focus on creative ways to understand and reflect systems, organs and functions of THE BODY.  The workshops are technology based; using LittleBits modular electronics as well as conventional art materials.  Students work collaboratively in groups, often building a narrative around their project.  To help students imagine their project a series of short semiotic and creative assignments are used.  Facilitators work hard to assist students in realizing their own ideas and designs. The focus on encouraging process and independent thinking has resulted in wildly creative projects and innovative designs.  Advance booking required.
Teachers will receive: description of the exhibition vocabulary & Big-Ideas, pre-workshop assignment and a post-workshop summary.
