myPITA provides professional development opportunities and teaching resources for intermediate and middle school teachers across BC. Our volunteer executive works hard to support teachers helping teachers.

myPITA is asking for your input to help us plan our 2027 Spring Conference by completing a 1-minute survey. 
After completing the survey, you will be able to enter a prize draw for a $50 e-gift card. The prize draw is open until noon on April 18, 2026.​

2026 myPITA Fall Conference

Join us at the 2026 myPITA Fall Conference on Friday, October 23, 2026, at SFU Harbour Centre in Vancouver and online.

Registration will open in the Summer. Join the myPITA e-newsletter mailing list to be informed when registration opens. Registration will open later than in previous years because myPITA is in the process of becoming a society and needs to complete that process before opening registration. Early-bird registration benefits are available until noon on September 30, 2026.

Hannah Beach is an award-winning BC-Based educator, author, emotional health consultant, and speaker. She is the co-author of the best-selling book Reclaiming Our Students: Why Children Are More Anxious, Aggressive, and Shut-Down than Ever—and What We Can Do About It, a trauma-informed resource for teachers and parents rooted in the relationship-based approach. She is presenting:

  • Resilience Lives Here: The Transformative Power of Relationship and Play in Session A.
  • The Hidden Roots of Anxiety and Aggression —and How to Grow Resilient Kids in Session B.
  • Understanding Adolescents From the Inside-Out in Session C.

Carole Fullerton is a K-12 BC mathematics teacher-leader and presenter who supports the development of quality numeracy instruction. She has authored and co-authored more than 28 teacher resources, all of which are grounded in addressing students’ diverse abilities using a teaching-through-problem-solving approach and focused on mathematical thinking and reasoning. She’s presenting:

  • Assessment to Instruction in Intermediate and Middle School Math Classrooms: Strategies for Moving all Students Forward in Session A–B.
  • Multiplicative Thinking in Intermediate and Middle School Math Classrooms: Building a Firm Foundation and Promoting Conceptual Understanding in Session C–D.

Andrew Buckley is an accomplished BC author, storyteller, educator, and speaker known for his dynamic, interactive presentations. He inspires and energizes teachers with his engaging style, deep expertise in storytelling mechanics, and practical, classroom-ready writing resources that support both creativity and skill development. He’s presenting:

  • It’s All Part of the Plan: Story Structure Workshop in Session A.
  • Getting into Character(s): Character Development in Session B.
  • Write Out Loud: A Writing Workout in Session C.
  • Writing Modern Monsters: Creatures, Mythology, and Folklore Workshop in Session D.

Graeme Mitchell is a teacher, researcher, and speaker from Victoria, BC. He cares deeply about helping young people and the adults who support them navigate an increasingly noisy and complex world with clarity, agency, and hope. His sessions are practical, evidence-based, and grounded in real classrooms. He has a Doctorate of Social Sciences in Environmental Education. He’s presenting:

  • The Human Curriculum: Learning That Can’t Be Automated in Session A.
  • From Apathy to Impact: Building Something That Matters in Session B.
  • Harnessing Hope: Empowering Tweens and Teens with Facts, Not Fear in Session C.​
