Diana Cruchley

Diana is an award-winning author and educator who has taught at both elementary and secondary levels. Her practical workshops and detailed handouts are always enthusiastically received. Check out her latest book "Shhh! Canadian Scientists and Inventors Rule, A Science ABC" which was placed in every school library in British Columbia. Diana's website is full of ideas and free resources which focus on making use of picture books in the classroom. Ray is a former president of PITA and recently retired elementary teacher. He is passionate about supporting early career teachers. The StartUP program provides excellent teaching resources and strategies. Ray has also been working on using Flip Teaching - where students view lessons at home online and come to school to try out their new knowledge. Maureen Dockendorf
Maureen is the Superintendent of Literacy and Numeracy for British Columbia's Ministry of Education. Maureen has worked as a teacher, SFU Faculty Associate, Principal, and Assistant Superintendent. She is currently leading a province-wide initiative entitled Changing Results for Young Readers and continues to work with BC's Ministry of Education to redesign curriculum, assessment and evaluation practices. Ray Appel

Ray has taught grades 2-7, been a Faculty Associate at Simon Fraser University (with a K-12 Module), and has also been a District Math/Science Coordinator (K-12). Ray has also written extensively for Addison-Wesley (Math Makes Sense, grades 3 - 7 in various provinces across Canada), and continues to do workshops that focus on topics such as language arts, assessment, fine arts, math and more! Ray continues to engage in writing, on-line video clips, and is currently working on a series of podcasts for new teachers.

She continues to teach two days a week in Vancouver and is a popular workshop presenter in districts across the province and country. She is known for providing teachers with practical lessons that can easily be implemented into any classroom. She believes on-going explicit instruction is the most effective way to enhance students’ ability in reading and writing. She is passionate children’s literature and is always on he look-out for the latest and greatest picture book to share! She blogs about children’s books and shares “a book a day” on her Facebook page. 
Jeffrey Wilhelm
Jeffrey is Professor of English Education at Boise State University in Boise, Idaho.He is the founding director of the Boise State Writing Project which supports over 1000 teachers each year with over 30,000 contact hours of professional development. He is a highly regarded author or co-author of 24 books about literacy and literacy education.
