What would you take if you had to suddenly leave your home? The Suitcase Project asked yonsei and gosei (fourth and fifth generation Japanese Canadian and Americans) what they would pack if uprooted from their homes at a moment's notice, like their ancestors had to during the internment in BC in the 1940s. The BCTF strongly supports examining historical wrongs during the intermediate grades through Social Studies. This exhibit displays the impact of this unfortunate part of Canada's history on Japanese Canadians both then and now.
