myPITA Member Project Grants

Application for myPITA Member Project Grants
Application deadline: 9 am PST on November 15, 2024.

The Provincial Intermediate and Middle Years Teachers Association (myPITA) is offering a resource creation grant to its members to expand its lesson and unit plan resource library.

Successful grant recipients may work solo or with a team of colleagues. Recipients may receive up to $5,000.00  per school year or 10 LOA days with TTOC coverage to work on creating, implementing, reflecting, and editing the original scope and sequenced lesson resources for Grade 4-9 teachers that help teachers teach the big ideas, curricular competencies, and content, in other words, unit plans that include lesson plans and supporting materials like slides, worksheets, etc.

myPITA’s Justice Education unit and lesson plans for Grades 5-7 are examples of a resource created through a past grant.

All projects must be completed by the end of the school calendar year, June 30, 2025. myPITA reserves the right to distribute the funds or LOA days will be based on the completion of quarterly reports and goals. In addition to developing a resource to be shared with myPITA members, upon completion of your project, a 300-1,200 word newsletter article about your resource is required.

Priority will be given to first-time applicants, but past recipients are welcome to reapply for more funding to continue their project or start a new one.

The Provincial Intermediate and Middle Years Teachers Association (myPITA) will co-own the copyright for any resources created. myPITA maintains the right to publish the materials developed as they see fit. The partner organization will give myPITA an editable digital copy of all materials developed.

The project grant money received may be used for any of the following:
  • Covering TTOC costs so that team members can collaborate during working hours.
  • Purchasing resources to help you explore education initiatives. Eg. Copies of a book for each member of your collaboration team, a single item or a single-set of educational materials for evaluation. However, the resources that you create cannot require teachers to purchase books or subscriptions without prior approval from myPITA.
  • Workshop development and the workshop must be submitted to the next myPITA Fall Conference for consideration by the myPITA Speakers Committee
  • Other ideas upon approval.

The project grant money MAY NOT be used for any of the following:
  • Purchasing classroom materials, such as books, equipment, or software, that will be used for teaching or by students, including demonstrations (demos).
  • Post-secondary/graduate degree or certificate programs including but not limited to tuition, textbooks, supplies, etc.
  • The costs associated with attending conferences, workshops, classes, training, etc.
